You can play your part in reversing heart disease by simply making some adjustments to your lifestyle. It’s a simple concept but so many people fail to make the small changes that can have such a massive impact in avoiding heart disease. Avoiding key risks can help you not only maintain a healthy heart but also lengthen your life.
When you put it simply, your heart is a pump that feeds blood through your body and all you have to do is make sure the pathways are clear. This means keeping your arteries clear so the flow goes on unimpeded. Blocked arteries lead to heart problems, heart attacks and death. It’s as simple as that. We have all heard this so many times it can often go unheeded, and that is where the real problem lies. If you maintain unclogged arteries you are actually reversing heart disease and, therefore, healing your own heart.
Reversing Heart Disease - Your Action Plan
It’s all a matter of diet and exercise. If you can keep your diet free of dangerous saturated fats and cholesterol, you will be well on the way to reversing heart disease. There is so much information on diets and tips on how to structure a diet comprising elements of the five food groups, that there is no longer an excuse for endangering your health. Some social commentators have suggested that health authorities can do little more in this regard short of forcing people to eat correctly by admitting them to dieting compounds where food is compulsorily healthy. This tongue in cheek assessment is just another way of saying your life s in your own hands. You can play your individual part in reversing heart disease by following the simple dieting rules available everywhere.
How Exercise Helps
Reversing heart disease is easily achieved if you simply get more exercise. With regular exercise, your heart becomes more efficient. The exercise does not have to be a complicated set of routines specially designed by an exercise physiologist. It can be achieved once again by making a few simple changes to the options you take every day. For example, you could walk instead of taking a bus. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, or simply walk around your neighborhood once a day, or just go for a relaxing stroll after dinner.
Surgery – The Last Option
Of course, surgery may be the last resort for reversing heart disease, but in my mind the prospect of surgery should be as great a deterrent as anything you can imagine. Whilst it is something of a comfort to know that surgery can be effective, surely prevention is better than cure. In any case, surgery will only be effective in acute cases and unless the cause is treated then you may face subsequent surgery if you don’t do what we have already suggested. In summary, to be active in reversing heart disease, you have to adopt a twin pronged attack. You just need to diet sensibly and exercise regularly. It’s not the end of the world to do this; in fact it could be the end of your world if you don’t!
Make it your challenge now to do at least one thing every day to get yourself in a strong position where reversing heart disease becomes a natural part of your thinking and lifestyle. Set an example to your friends and family and you’ll bear the boundless fruits of a healthy heart.

Depression affects millions of people around the world. It is considered by experts to be on of the greatest hidden conditions affecting not only the lifestyles of sufferers but also their families, friends and employers. In fact, the condition can last from moments of simply “feeling down” or “a bit blue”, to weeks of worry and complete debilitation.
Depression, What is it?
At its worst, depression is labeled “Clinical depression”. This is best understood as a complete overwhelming emotion of sadness and helplessness. It can also be experienced as a period of utter despair without hope of escape. Sufferers lose the ability to express their feelings at this stage and the spiral continues to draw them into a seemingly endless spiral of fear. In this state, people can lose their appetite, and lose touch with friends and family. Their employment also suffers, and they may be at risk of suicide.
In its more minor form depression can be a less intense suffering of the same symptoms or maybe only suffering from on or two symptoms. Nevertheless depression, in any form, is a hidden menace for many people who are not able to deal effectively with their problem because they have difficulty talking about it. They suffer from the feeling of shame and “stupidity” which they attach to their behavior that unfairly keeps this debilitating condition hidden.
Treating Depression With Herbs
Doctors will prescribe a variety of drugs for the depressed patients. Often the side effects of these prescriptions leave the patients with a set of side issues to deal with, such as feelings of sleepiness, lack of clarity or mental focus and loss of libido and appetite. Herbal remedies on the other hand, offer a wonderful alternative that have few if any side effects. Two herbs that have shown great promise are Licorice and St John’s Wort.
Having its origins in Europe, St. John’s Wort contains the vitally active ingredient called hyperforin. Experts recommend a dosage of 900 – 1800 mg a day with a concentration of 3 per cent. This dosage can be altered in accordance with the severity of the condition and will be adjusted by your naturopath.
Ironically, St John’s Wort is classified as a toxic weed because it adversely affects the central nervous system of some animals. Although demonstrating this negative affect in animals, it does not affect humans this way in the slightest, and the herb has been effective in the treatment of depression. Studies have shown that it inhibits the release of Serotonin which is the result that traditionally prescribed medications seek to achieve. Some patients have found this naturally occurring product more acceptable than a drug prescription, and have achieved good results in the treatment of their depression.
Licorice
Licorice has been known for a long time as an effective herbal treatment fro colds, but recently recorded results have shown impressive results in the treatment of depression. Licorice is a natural anti-depressant which contains eight monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
This herb is taken either as a capsule or can be drunk as a tea. There is one cautionary rider to the use of Licorice. If taken in too large a dose or over a lengthy period, there may be side effects like increased blood pressure, headaches and lethargy. It is recommended that licorice be supplemented with potassium capsules and increased water intake to offset the side effects, but in any case you should only use licorice on the advice of a licensed practitioner.

I just read a story about how one person got over his panic.smartproductslive.com”>panic disorder. It is quite a moving story and quite helpful in both understanding panic.smartproductslive.com”>panic disorder and also curing it. I have the writer’s permission to publish it here:
“I often go over my journey of discovery to find the best treatment for panic.smartproductslive.com”>panic disorder and now, I can smile about it. After all, I learned that I will never have to fear another panic attack.
My first memory is that I didn’t want to admit I had a problem at all. I was short of breath. I couldn’t explain it. I had no stress in my life, I was in my forest year at university, and I couldn’t maintain attention in class. One day I told my tutor that day that I had to go to a doctor half way through the class. She said it would be no problem and did I want to talk about it. I said “No, I’m Ok”.
It was only a few weeks later that I was able to admit I wasn’t OK at all. Not by a long way. My doctor did some tests and said there was nothing apparently wrong with me. I acted relieved, but in my heart I knew she was wrong. Something was terribly wrong, and I couldn’t explain it. I recalled the first time I had the experience; I felt dizzy, nauseous and hot in the face. At first I thought I was having a heart attack, but after I settled down again I let it go and convinced myself that it was just a passing ailment. It took another two episodes and some consistent prodding from my partner before I relented and decided to seek advice from another medical practitioner.
My new doctor identified my condition as a panic.smartproductslive.com”>panic disorder and gave me some breathing and relaxation exercises. I had the opportunity to put these strategies into practice only a few hours after leaving her surgery! Luckily I was able to gain control and felt better for the experience, but I still had a deep seated fear that the “alien assault’ as I labelled my attack could recur at any moment.
I knew I needed more help, so I asked my doctor for a referral to a specialist which she had mentioned to me during my visit, a Psychologist. This Psychologist took me through a treatment program during which I had to identify the stages of my attacks. I recognised the absolute terror of an impending attack, the sense of utter helplessness, and the loss of control and fear that I had an incurable illness, and a consistent feeling that something awful was about to occur. I was in a never ending loop of Fear panic and Anxiety.
To cut a long story short I went to a number of specialists over the next year, and latched on to a number of techniques ranging from self hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and various positive affirmation and breathing plans. I only ever really had short lived success with all of them.
But all I really wanted was to return to my “old self”, I didn’t really care about the reasons for my condition, I didn’t want to examine my childhood. I just wanted something that worked. I did discover some things that were helpful and I finally found a technique I was happy with.”

Natural Cures are being sought for more and more. So how do you know what works and what doesn’t?
I have devoted this site to researching what is reliable and what is not, and to refer you to the most dependable information on Natural Cures.
My experience is that there are many sites devoted to selling their own products under the guise of providing independent information. Please don’t take my word for it, just do a Google Search and see for yourself. You will be drawn in to a world of advertising and product pushing. OK, we all have to make a living I guess, but whilst I can’t stop this completely, I encourage you to check out the rest of this site and see where it leads. I hope you will find exactly what you want.
If you know where to go, you can really find what you want.
Let me share a friend’s experience.
She suffered some symptoms of Arthritis and sought out a source of natural cures on the web. She took about three weeks of solid research and found something she trusted and tried out the recommendations. She discovered that essential fatty acids like Omega 3, 6 and 9 can help ease arthritic problems. She bought some plain seed oil and added others - like flaxseed oil- then took a tablespoon every morning as part of her breakfast.
After eight weeks she was a new woman. The pains had gone.
Now, I’m not saying that everyone will achieve the same results no matter what their problem. But, try and tell her that! We can all improve our own lives.
One highly regarded expert on Alternative medicines is Professor Edzard Ernst. He looks at complementary medicine and alternative therapies to discover what is useful, what is bogus and what is downright dangerous.
He has highlighted many so called “cures” as baseless and possibly dangerous.
Two examples of bogus cancer treatments were shark cartilage and laetrile, sometimes called vitamin B17, a chemical made from almonds or stones in soft fruit.
The point is, do not be sucked in to the easy “miracle cures” do your research and learn from the experts.
Believe it or not, some studies have shown that people believe what they see on the computer screen more readily than what they may hear from an expert. It may be that in our desperation to find a natural cure we adopt a distorted view of what is reliable.
Doctors at University College London reported that people suffering from a chronic condition such as diabetes who used the net to find out more were often in a worse condition than if they had listened to their doctor.
It seems an overload of information can give a false sense of security.
I repeat, don’t be fooled into thinking the internet can help you diagnose yourself or worse, treat yourself.
I have found the following to be sites you can trust:

We have all heard our body grumble when it needs to be fed; it growls and screams at us for not looking after it.
But when your body is being fed junk, it does fill the gap, but the body starts to realize that every heartbeat will get tougher and tougher to achieve if we constantly input unhealthy foods loaded with saturated fats and preservatives into our systems everyday.
Natural health foods are not available to just make you look good; they are there to make you feel good, as well as to be able to achieve that greater feeling of overall well-being.
You do not have to jump straight in the deep end either when looking for health natural foods; there are books designed to help the beginner start to gain a healthier body.
These books will help you make decisions, such as what type of healthy natural food you should be looking at buying, as well as how to achieve and maintain a health body.
The greatest medicine can be the food that we eat.
Healthy bodies maintained properly will not only help our immune systems, but it will also improve our overall health.
Of course, looking good is fine for some people, but to feel that good inside is sometimes tougher to achieve, especially if you are not eating properly; eating healthy natural foods will improve your insides greatly and will help to maintain that healthy inner body.
It’s not a simple case where you do something once each month; this is a program that should stay with you for life. You can’t just clear the system out once and then be done with it. You must constantly clean the body if you want to feel the results every day.
Later I will be reviewing more books that have been helpful to me.
